COP26 enters final stretch in search of deal
The COP26 summit in Glasgow officially ends on Friday, but after more than a week of negotiations, countries are still far from finding agreement on many issues. The conference’s main goal: to agree on rules that will uphold the Paris Agreement. That means, keeping the rise in global temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. That would require countries to significantly step up their efforts to reduce emissions.
