Iceland’s plant that turns carbon dioxide into stone
To stop global temperatures from rising, not only does the world need to cut emissions, but billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide will have to be removed from the atmosphere. And the best way of doing that is by planting trees. But recently, the world’s largest direct air capture plant went live in Iceland. The Orca Plant permanently removes CO2 from the air, turning it to stone. Al Jazeera’s Charlie Angela reports from Hellisheidi in Iceland.
