Macron cautiously optimistic of reaching deal on EU Covid-19 package

EU leaders have played down reports of tensions between the bloc as negotiations continue over a 750 billion euro recovery deal. French President Emmanuel Macron is said to be cautiously optimistic of reaching a compromise with the so-called ‘frugal’ northern European countries on the division of loans and grants that will comprise the package.
