Why France and Germany are stagnating

Germany and France, the EU’s two most powerful countries, are in crisis. In both cases, governments have collapsed primarily over a failure to agree on how to manage the economy. While both nations are struggling with the decline of core industries, when it comes to public spending, they have completely opposite problems.
