Commissioner Gabriel in Albania to promote the Digital Agenda for Western Balkans and encourage progress on digital issues
Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, will travel to Tirana, Albania, on 13 November, to promote the Commission’s enhanced support to the Western Balkan partners in the digital transformation of their economies and societies.
She will discuss the implementation of the various priorities of the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans with the Prime Minister, Mr Edi Rama, Steering Board Chair of the Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications, Ilir Zela and Deputy Prime Minister, Senida Mesi. She will also visit Tirana Business Park to inaugurate the E-mma Balkans and the ADISA one stop shop for public service delivery. During her visit the Commissioner will welcome the commitment of Albanian government to swiftly deliver on the implementation of the Digital Agenda for Western Balkans as well as the actions stemming from the Digital Integration Summit in Trieste, Italy. In this context, Albania is expecting to continue the work with regional partners to lower roaming costs, to further boost internet trust and security, to improve broadband infrastructure (including through the Western Balkans Investment Fund’s support for broadband rollout) and to promote digital skills.
