Commissioner Johansson attends the OECD High-Level Policy Forum on migration
Today, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson will attend the OECD’s High Level Policy Forum “Building a Whole-of-Society Approach to Emerging Migration and Integration Challenges” in Paris. The Forum will be an opportunity to discuss various aspects of migration including changing labour markets, technological advances, forced displacement and demography. The meeting will be attended by ministers, officials, and various stakeholders including business leaders, academics and representatives from civil society. Commissioner Johansson said: “Migration is a fact of life and how we integrate and welcome people into our societies will be one of my priorities as Commissioner for Home Affairs. Integration is more than good economic sense, it’s about social cohesion and fundamental values. We need to address it in a way that is both comprehensive and inclusive – by involving local authorities, civil society, economic and social partners and most importantly, people.” While in Paris, the Commissioner will also meet with Catrina Tapley, Deputy Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada.
