Commissioner Sinkevičius on official visit to Italy to discuss the European Green Deal and fisheries matters

Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevičius is visiting Italy today and tomorrow to discuss Green Deal topics such as packaging and waste management, forests, and fisheries in the Mediterranean. Today, he will be in Rome and will start his meetings with a visit to the Malagrotta landfill together with Italian authorities. The Commissioner will then meet Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests; Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister for Environment and Energy Security; and Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome. He will also participate in a parliamentary hearing and discussion with committees of the Lower Chamber, as well as of the Upper House. Tomorrow, he will be in Milanwhere he will start with a working breakfast with CEOs/companies on packaging, followed by a meeting withBeppe Sala, Mayor of Milan. He will then visit a vertical forest architectural project (Bosco verticale) and the urban tree planting Forestami project. The Commissioner will conclude his visit with a participation in the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio, in the panel on ‘Sustainable Finance and its Impact on the Future of Business’.
