Commissioner Thyssen attends the International Labour Conference in Geneva
omorrow, 8 June, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen, will travel to Geneva, Switzerland, to attend the 105th International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The Commissioner will give a speech on this occasion which will be made available here. In addition to discussing the protection of workers’ rights and the importance of social dialogue, her presence will also be an opportunity to discuss the European Pillar of Social Rights, which was presented on 8 March 2016, with participating government representatives and social partners. In the margins of the Conference, Commissioner Thyssen will notably have bilateral meetings with the International Employers Organisation and the International Workers Organisation. During her visit, the Commissioner will also participate in an informal ministerial working lunch, organised by the Dutch Council Presidency, on “Strengthening Workplace Compliance: Realising Decent Work in Global Supply Chains”. Finally, she will attend a dinner with G20 members attending the Conference.
