Coronavirus: Commissioners Reynders and Johansson at informal EU-U.S. Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial videoconference today
This afternoon, Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, will attend the informal EU-U.S. Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial videoconference meeting convened by the Croatian Presidency of the Council to discuss the shared challenges of the current coronavirus crisis. Chad Wolf, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security and Jeffrey Rosen, the U.S. Deputy Attorney General will represent the U.S. Croatian Justice and Interior Ministers Dražen Bošnjaković and Davor Božinović will take part on behalf of the Croatian Presidency. On this occasion, participants will discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in the area of justice and home affairs, the measures taken to fight the pandemic, lessons learned and the way forward. They will notably address the fight against crime (including cybercrime and terrorism), responses in the area of justice (including emergency measures, criminal justice and tracing apps), countering disinformation as well as border and travel restrictions, all in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. They will also refer to the issue of visa reciprocity. The next formal EU-U.S. Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting is planned for Autumn 2020.
