EU Commissioners Malmström, Arias Cañete and Moscovici to participate in OECD Ministerial Council Meeting
EU Commissioners Malmström, Cañete and Moscovici will represent the European Commission at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) in Paris on 3-4 June. The EU will present and promote EU policies and initiatives with particular emphasis on the areas of unlocking investment, climate change and sustainable development, the post-2015 development agenda and trade. EU Climate Action and Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete will join the working dinner where the focus will be on the progress made towards reaching a new climate agreement at the 21st meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP21) in Paris. In addition, he will participate in the session entitled “Investing for a low-carbon economy – saving resources, greening investment”, which will examine the need for and benefits in stimulating investment in a low-carbon economy. EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström will also attend the yearly MCM and in its margin an informal gathering on the Doha Development Round. Pierre Moscovici, Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, will attend the session on “Unlocking growth: the role of investment, innovation and business climate” on Wednesday afternoon.
