Executive Vice-President Timmermans attends the Africa Adaptation Summit ahead of COP27

Today, Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans participates in the Africa Adaptation Summit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, alongside leaders from Africa and the EU. The Summit aims at laying the foundations for further progress on climate adaptation at the forthcoming COP27 UN Climate Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt (7-18 November). It will provide an opportunity to catalyse new coalitions of partners and initiatives to accelerate action on the ground across Africa. This afternoon, the Executive Vice-President will deliver a statement on the ‘Road to COP27′ during the closing ceremony, and will attend the Group Discussion on Delivering the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) Upstream Financing Facility. In the margins of the Summit, the Executive Vice-President will meet bilaterally with UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed; International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva; and the President of Senegal and Chairperson of the African Union, Macky Sall.
