I would like to congratulate you on your approval as Prime Minister of Sweden.
In wishing you a successful new term, I am confident that you will maintain your country’s important role in keeping the unity of the European Union and in dealing proactively with common tasks. Reaching positive outcomes, including on Brexit, but also on other issues such as ending illegal migration, increasing security, preventing climate change and strengthening the role of the EU in a changing world, will require a great deal of joint effort and determination.
Considering these challenges I am pleased to be able to count on your leadership and our continued excellent cooperation.
I look forward to seeing you at our next European Council meeting.
