Major increase of signatories of Circular Plastics Alliance declaration

Since its launch in December 2018, the Circular Plastics Alliance has gathered 170+ signatories, including public and private actors covering the whole plastics value chain. They have committed to reach by 2025 the target of 10 million tonnes of recycled plastic used per year in Europe, compared to less than 4 million tonnes in 2016. This target was set by the European Commission in its 2018 Plastics Strategy, as part of its efforts to boost plastics recycling in Europe. Companies, business organisations and public authorities who signed the Circular Plastics Alliance declaration have already put in motion six working groups, including on automotive, packaging, construction, agriculture, electrical and electronic equipment as well as on monitoring and data collection. This is a major cooperation along the plastics value chains, open to all relevant actors who want to lead the transition to a circular economy for plastics.
