The President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, has sent a letter to the President of the Euro Summit, Charles Michel, to report on the work of the Eurogroup since the Euro Summit in March and on the upcoming work priorities.
The report welcomes the fact that over the past number of months a number of key proposals with direct relevance for the Eurogroup work have been put forward by the Commission, including the crisis management and deposit insurance (CMDI) framework, the proposal to reform the EU’s economic governance rules, and the imminent digital euro proposal.
It also outlines the key areas of Eurogroup work for the second half of the year, which will include:
- fiscal coordination and macroeconomic surveillance,
- the international role of the euro, and
- a new work stream on identifying future priorities for the development of European capital markets and the external competitiveness of the euro area.
