Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria

On 23 September 2024, the Council adopted implementing Decision (CFSP) 2024/2502, implementing Decision 2013/255/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria.

The Council decided that, following the judgment of the General Court in Case T-209/22, one entry should be deleted from the list of natural and legal persons, entities or bodies set out in Annex I to Decision 2013/255/CFSP.

The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia, as well as the EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
