Committee meetings, Brussels
Trans-European Transport Network rules. MEPs in the Transport Committee will vote on a draft report updating and reforming EU guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport road, rail and waterways network, including on cutting ties with Russia and Belarus, and increasing connections with Ukraine and Moldova in the wake of Russia’s war. (Thursday)
EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will vote on a non-binding resolution on the latest attempt to establish a data transfer framework between the EU and the US that would be acceptable to the EU Court of Justice. (Thursday)
Plenary preparations. EP political groups will prepare for the 17-20 April plenary session in Strasbourg, where MEPs will vote on the reform of the EU’s Emissions Trading System – including for aviation and the maritime sector – the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and a new Social Climate fund, debate and vote on new rules on deforestation and sustainable carbon cycles, and will host a “This is Europe” debate with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel.
President’s diary. On Wednesday President Metsola will give the opening address at the first Inter-Committee meeting of the European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in Brussels.
Pre-session press briefing. The EP Press Service will hold a press briefing with the Parliament’s political group spokespersons at 11.00 on Friday (Anna Politkovskaya room, press centre, Brussels).
