Trade defence regulation, Bilateral trade relations and the 11th WTO Conference will be discussed at the Foreign Affairs Council of the 11th of May
Agenda highlights
Trade defence regulation
Ministers will discuss the new anti-dumping methodology. Since the Commission presented its proposal in November 2016, the Council has worked intensively on this file with the aim of agreeing a Council mandate for negotiations with the European Parliament. It agreed on its negotiating mandate on 3 May 2017.
Bilateral trade relations
The Council will hold a debate on the implementation of free trade agreements. Ministers will also take stock of trade relations with Chile, New Zealand and Australia and discuss the state of play of trade negotiations with Japan, Mexico and Mercosur over lunch. Furthermore, they will talk about the EU-Myanmar/Burma Investment Protection Agreement.
WTO Conference
Ministers will also examine the preparations for this December’s 11th World Trade Organisation Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires.
