Daniel Hannan is a British politician for the Conservative Party. He studied modern history at Oxford University. Since 1999, he has been a member of the European Parliament, first in the European People’s Party–European Democrats, and later in the European Conservatives and Reformists. In addition to his political work he is also well known for his work as a writer and journalist. He has received different prices for his blogs (the Bastiat Prize in 2009 and the Orwell Prize in 2011), as well as the Political Books Awards for his book How We Invented Freedom and Why it Matters. He speaks fluent English, French and Spanish.
