Alvaro de Elera has been a member of the Cabinet of Commission Vice-President Vera Jourova since 2020. He also served as a Legal Advisor in the European Council’s Legal Service, from 2019 to 2020. Alvaro de Elera has a distinguished track record of service within the European institutions by serving in various capacities within the European Council, including as a member of the Cabinet of Commission first Vice-President Frans Timmermans from 2018 to 2019, and as a member of the Cabinet of the Secretary-General of the Council from 2017 to 2018. Previously, he held several positions within the Council Legal Service, where he provided expert legal advice on a range of topics and served as a Legal Advisor in areas such as External Relations (2012-2017), Economic and Financial Affairs (2010-2012), and Internal Market and relations with the European Parliament (2008-2010).
