Gabriele Giudice is Head of the Unit working on EMU Deepening and Euro Area Macroeconomics in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission. Prior to that, he headed the economic and fiscal surveillance units of several countries, and was responsible for the financial assistance programmes of Latvia (2009-12 as Head of EU Representation) and Greece (2012-16 as Deputy Head of EU Representation). He advised Commissioner Joaquín Almunia on economic, budgetary and monetary issues of the EU and the euro area (2004-08). He has published numerous articles on EU fiscal coordination and surveillance, as well as on economic and fiscal developments and reforms in Latvia, the UK and Greece. Since 2016, he has been editor of the quarterly Eurozone Review.
