Gilles Pargneaux is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament since 2009. He is vice-chairman of the Committee on the Environment, Health and Food Safety and member of the Foreign Affairs, Budgetary Control and Security and Defence Committees. As an MEP, Gilles Pargneaux was rapporteur for the decision on cross-border health threats, co-authored the European Parliament’s resolution on the fight against fraud and food crises, and led the battle against rail liberalisation. He chairs the working group against tobacco industry interference in the European Parliament. He is the rapporteur of the European Parliament’s own-initiative text on COP21: Towards a new international climate agreement in Paris, which sets out the European Parliament’s position in the run-up to the international climate negotiations to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015. He will be a member of the European Parliament’s delegation to COP21 in Paris.
