Henna Virkkunen has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014. She is a Member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. She is a substitute member of the committee on Transport and Tourism. Before Ms Virkkunen was elected to the European Parliament, she served as a Minister of Transport and Local Government in Finland. She has also been a Minister of Public Administration and Local Government and a Minister of Education, during her two terms as a Member of the Parliament of Finland. Ms Virkkunen had been a member of the City Council of Jyväskylä and the Chairwoman of the Council during 2005-2008.
