Tom Howes is Advisor to Director Ms Sikow-Magny in the energy department of the European Commission, covering green energy transition and market regulation topics, including biomethane policy. In the past, he was Head of Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA) and, from 2004 until 2020, worked for the European Commission on EU renewable energy legislation, market and grid integration issues, energy modelling and energy finance. Mr Howes also worked as an economist for the UK Department of the Environment, and as an administrator for the Australian Department of Primary industries and energy.
