Joaquim Nunes de Almeida is the director for public procurement in DG Internal Market and Services of the European Commission. He was Head of Unit in DG Home, responsible for police cooperation and access to information after being in charge of counter-terrorism in the same capacity. Formerly, he was a member of the Cabinet of Commissioner António Vitorino and prior to that, he was an assistant to the Director-General of DG Internal Market, John Mogg. His career in the Commission started in 1995. He worked for competition and corporate law firms in Brussels and Lisbon from 1989 to 1994.
