Benjamin Lakatos is the founder, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman, and majority owner of MET Group, an independent energy company headquartered in Switzerland. He oversees Group strategy, business development, and key relationships. Benjamin began his career at MOL, where he played a key role in Hungary’s natural gas market liberalization and major energy projects, including the MMBF underground gas storage and the Nabucco Gas Pipeline Project. Recognizing opportunities from evolving EU energy markets, he founded MET Group in 2007, focusing on natural gas and trading, later expanding into power markets. In 2018, he became the majority owner of MET through a Management Buyout and was elected Chairman of the Board in 2022. He holds an MSc in Economics from the Budapest University of Economics and an MBA scholarship from the State University of New York. A native Hungarian, Benjamin speaks English and German.
