Marco Valletta is member of the Personal Office of Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis, in charge of Health and Food Safety since November 2014. He was born on September 15, 1974 in Italy. After graduating in Political sciences at the University of Rome, he specialised in International and European Affairs with a Master in European Political and Administrative studies at the College of Europe of Bruges and a Ph.D. in European and Comparative Agricultural and Food Law at the University of Pisa. As of 2004 Marco Valletta is an official of the European Commission where he was policy officer for biotechnology and assistant to the Director General of DG Health and Consumers before joining the Personal Office of the Commissioner. His main responsibilities cover the food area of the Commissioner’s portfolio and particularly animal health and welfare, food waste, food control and food frauds. He also deals with the files related with agriculture, environment and better regulation.
