Mark Nicklas is the Head of Unit Mobility in the Commission’s DG Industry, Single Market, Entrepreneurship & SMEs (DG GROW) since 2022, responsible for the industrial policy for the European mobility industries (automotive, rail supply, maritime) and the single market legislation for motor vehicles. The unit recently prepared the Industrial Action Plan for the EU automotive sector. He has been a Head of Unit in DG GROW since 2016, with previous responsibilities for innovation, industrial strategy and international value chains. He started his European Commission career in DG Mobility & Transport in 2003. Before joining the Commission, he worked in the telecommunications industry in Germany. Mark holds a Ph.D. in economics.
