Richard Stuart Howitt is a Member of the European Parliament for the Labour Party for the East of England. He has been a member of the European Parliament since 1994. Richard Howitt held several position within the EU Parliament, he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy from 1997 to 1999, Co-Chairman of the Committee on Economic Development, Finance and Trade, ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly from 2002 to 2004, First Vice-Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights from 2004 to 2009 and he is currently the European Parliament representative in the European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility.
