Paulius Saudargas is a Lithuanian MEP and a Doctor of Physical Sciences who turned to politics in 2008, when he was elected to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, the Seimas. Throughout his years in the Seimas, Paulius held various positions and was a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs, the Committee on Environment Protection and the Committee on Economics, as well the Commission for Energy and Sustainable Development. Between 2010 and 2012, he was the President of the Seimas Delegation to the Baltic Assembly. He also held the position of Deputy Speaker of the Seimas during the 2020–2024 legislative term. In 2024, Paulius was elected as a Member of the European Parliament. He is actively involved in parliamentary work as a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), as a substitute member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), and as a member of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee (D-UA). Paulius Saudargas belongs to the European People’s Party (EPP), the largest and oldest group in the European Parliament. In his country of election, he serves as the Deputy Chair of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrat Party. Paulius is the author of several scientific publications and of three books.
