Graduated from Karlsruhe University, Sebastian Herkel is working at Fraunhofe ISE since 1992 – currently as head of Solar Building Department. His major research fields are energy efficient buildings and construction for non-residential buildings, residential buildings and energy supply concepts on district level, heat pump technologies and optimization of building operation including fault detection. He is leading various research projects on the National and European level and is Member of different working groups of the Solar Heating and Cooling Implementing agreement of the International Energy Agency – current in Task 44 Solar Heat Pumps.
