Christian Stempel studied law in Cologne, Paris and Cambridge. He then worked as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. There he also did his PhD in the field of Union Private Law. In 2014, Mr Stempel moved to the Bundeskartellamt, where he worked as an adviser in the 2nd Decision Division and in the Policy Department, including as coordinator for the office’s cooperation in the Network of European Competition Authorities (NECA). Since 2020 he has been Head of Unit G1 – German and European Antitrust Law – in the Policy Department.
