Thor-Sten Vertmann is in charge of electricity market, consumer and energy efficiency policies for the Cabinet of Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson. He worked for more than a decade in various Estonian governmental bodies with a focus on EU affairs, including in the energy, climate and transport domains. Between 2016 and 2018, he was the Head of the Energy Section for the Estonian EU Presidency and chaired the Council’s Energy Working Party for the Clean Energy Package proposals. In 2015, he joined the European Commission’s Vice-President Andrus Ansip’s Cabinet which led the drafting and implementation of the Digital Single Market Strategy and used his experience later on at DG DEVCO for mainstreaming digitalisation in development policies.
